Getting started
and the design process
How does a project start?
If you’d like to see what we can do for you and obtain some general information, we invite you to first visit our landscape showyard. Whether you are considering installing a completely new landscape, or refreshing an existing landscape, so that you will be aware of material options and comfortable with our design style, your project will benefit with a visit to our ½ acre outdoor showyard located in Castro Valley. Here, owner Steve Hansen will personally discuss your project with you and share with you stamped concrete, pavers, Redwood and synthetic wood decking and arbors, flagstone and masonry work, water features, BBQ/foodservice, an outdoor fireplace, synthetic lawns and many of the plants and trees we recommend. All in a beautiful and working landscape!
The showyard is open Monday through Saturday, by appointment, starting at 9:00am. This is a nice informal way to have a few questions answered and to see what we can do for you.
Give Steve Hansen a call at 510-773-1003 or email him at Hansen.steve@comcast.net to come see our landscape showyard or set up a no cost design consultation/estimate. Steve will be happy to answer any of your questions.

Is
a scale design necessary for Hansen Landscape to install my
project?
For projects including patios/walks, landscaping and other components such as water features, arbors, a design will most likely be needed. The design fee will be quoted after we see the project and understand the scope of work. When Hansen Landscape is hired to install your project, as we are a design/build firm, we will apply the cost of any design fees toward the installation costs.
Smaller or simpler projects may not require a scale design.
My
HOA (Home Owners Association) requires a scale design. Do
you create landscape plans?
Yes. Our process can include a scale design that you can submit
to your HOA.

When
can you start the installation of my project?
After your approval of the proposal to install your project
and our receipt of your deposit, we can normally start a project
within 2-5 weeks.
How
long does it take to install a project?
Smaller projects consisting of concrete, lawn and/or plant
materials may require only up to 3-4 weeks to complete. Larger
projects also requiring masonry or carpentry, may require
6-12 weeks to complete. Your final proposal will indicate
how long your project will take based on the components you
select.

How
do I pay you?
We accept personal checks. When you are ready to sign your
installation agreement, we will collect a small down payment
of $1000 or if your project is under $10,000, this deposit
will be 10% of the contract total. For projects lasting several
weeks or more, we will invoice you weekly for only that percentage
of work completed. Shorter term projects will have specified
payments at specified intervals. Deposits, consultation and
design fee credits will be applied toward your final payment.

I
have a plan, which is drawn by another company. Will your
company quote an installation cost?
Possibly. As we are a Design/Build company, most of our projects
are also designed by us. However, depending upon our work
load and your design, we may be able to assist you. What is
important to us if we install your project, is that we (vs
your designer or architect) are granted full control by you
over the design of and the installation methods and material
selections of your sprinkler and drainage systems, and soil
preparations needs. This will also allow us to properly guarantee
these items. Please contact Steve Hansen direct at 510-773-1003
or email him with information regarding your needs to hansen.steve@comcast.net
and he will be happy to assist you. Back to Top
Do
you have references?

including type of work performed, client name and phone #.
